In preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics Vancouver put on it's best face. I have lived in this city since 1953 and I have never seen this city so alive. Even Expo 86 didn't come close to the excitement and sheer number of public exhibitions and free events. This is but a very small smattering of what was a very exciting and unforgetable once-in-a-life experience.
Granville Street housed many art exhibits, people flew over the Robson Square Skating Rink on a zip line, False Creek and Yaletown were the sites for the Athletes Village, Canada House, Live City and many more free public venues including Canada Hockey House and B C Place where the opening, closing and victory celebrations took place, Coal Harbor housed the International Broadcast Centre (now the Vancouver Convention Centre) and the Olympic Cauldron just to name a few. Olympic fervor was everywhere you looked in the downtown core, and it was tremendous fun.
