At last … I'm back!
For the past several years I have been completely absorbed in my commitment to Positive Living BC where I held the Executive positions of Treasurer, Vice-chair and Chair as well as a Director-at-large. This work began by my volunteering in 2004 so, to date, it has been an amazing 10 year journey.
In the past few years I have been able to participate at regional, provincial and national tables here in Vancouver, BC. But, for me, most notably a seat on the Advisory Council for the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, a world leader in HIV and AIDS research held a deep significance. As the sole person living with HIV, representing a community of over 5,600 HIV positive people, to be able to sit at the same table as folk from the Ministry of Health, Vancouver Coastal Health, St. Paul's Hospital, the BC Centre for Excellence and the BC Centre for Disease Control and I am deeply grateful for the networking and friendship opportunities and to have some influence on those processes so central to and vital to the health of people living with HIV.
The work has been challenging, rewarding and at times, exhausting.
Starting now I will be much more present here than I have been. I have begun to re-engage with the Turning Gate community, I have signed onto Adobe's Creative Cloud, I am learning more from lynda.com and I have a lot more free time to devote to this work, to this new journey into getting all creative like!
Follow along as I migrate from my current "feature rich" user interface into one that, hopefully, will reflect and be influenced by modern UX designs – clean, simple and direct.
